About khs-instruments

Since 1993, we have been designing and manufacturing electronic hardware and the corresponding software for customers in industry, universities and research institutes.

Our goal is to find the best technical solution together with our customers.

Over the years, khs-instruments has evolved into a highly automated micro-company. Automation allows us to efficiently develop and manufacture specialized electronic products, particularly in small quantities and over long product lifetimes.

The production workflow for electronic assemblies starts with:

- BOM generation directly from the PCB layout
- a component database containing all relevant production information
- automatic price calculation
- automatic generation of purchasing lists
- automatic generation of pick-and-place data
- automatic inventory updates

and ends with automated product testing and the generation of a test report.

Product-specific test adapters connect the device under test to standardized interfaces of the test system.

The test system itself is modular and largely independent of the commands and interfaces of the individual test instruments. This minimizes the effort required to adapt existing test programs to new products or to replace test instruments.

This high level of automation significantly reduces the amount of product-specific knowledge required during production. It also helps maintain consistent manufacturing and test procedures even when there are long intervals between production runs.

Similar processes and tools have been developed to improve the efficiency of mechanical production.

One example is the SMT-PCB-A4 manual frameless stencil printer, which was originally developed to improve our own PCB production process.

This highly automated structure minimizes the time required for administration, production and testing.

It enables consistent product quality and competitive production costs even for low-volume products with long intervals between orders.

Our current design and development activities include:

- Reusable FPGA modules
- High-speed, low-noise signal conditioning
- Device drivers
- Embedded firmware
- Improved self-test functions
- Improved logging and error analysis
- New development and production tools
- analog::blocks modular analog development platform
- Mechanical prototyping using CNC milling and other tools

*Our products include software and drivers for win XP / W7 / W10 / W11 (32+64) operating systems
